Ballina Crane Hire

Crane Hire in Ballina From the Company That Lives Here

Bauer Cranes is based in Ballina. Not servicing Ballina from somewhere else, based here. When you book a crane with us, the machine, the crew and the director are all local, which means faster response times, real knowledge of local sites and conditions, and a company with its name on the line in its own town.

We run five machines from a 2.8 tonne spider crane to a 55 tonne Liebherr, including our 40 tonne all terrain slew crane, with licensed operators, riggers and dogmen on every lift. Available 24/7, including weekends and emergency call-outs. View our fleet.

Local Conditions

What Crane Work Looks Like in Ballina

Ballina jobs range from residential lifts on the coastal strip to commercial and industrial work around the Southern Cross industrial estate and the airport precinct. Tight beachside blocks, canal-front homes with rear access only, new estates at Cumbalum, and rural properties out through Teven and Tintenbar each ask something different of the crane and the crew.

That is why the fleet matters. A Franna handles most builder lifts. The spider crane gets into courtyards and through doorways where nothing else fits. The 40T all terrain covers structural steel and larger residential work, on sealed streets or soft ground. And where overhead powerlines crowd the lift, our close approach licenced crew can often keep the job moving where other outfits would be waiting on an outage.

Areas We Cover

Servicing All of Ballina Shire

We are on sites across the shire every week, including:

Alstonville and Wollongbar. Plateau jobs from residential builds to rural sheds. The hinterland blocks up here often come with access questions, and we assess them free of charge.

Lennox Head. Coastal residential lifts, sloped blocks and narrow streets. See our Lennox Head crane hire page.

Wardell, Broadwater and Woodburn. Rural properties, river flats and the highway villages south of Ballina. Cane country access and riverside blocks are familiar ground.

Evans Head. Coastal residential lifts, tanks, sheds and containers at the southern end of the shire. Close enough to our Ballina base that mobilisation is quick.

Teven, Tintenbar and Cumbalum. Acreage, new estates and semi-rural sites between the highway and the hills.

East Ballina, West Ballina and Ballina Island. The home patch. Residential, commercial and industrial.

Common Questions

Crane Hire in Ballina, Answered

Structural steel and roof trusses for new builds, including work at the Ballina RSL Club. Spas and fibreglass pools into backyards. Water tanks, site sheds and containers. Glass, air conditioning units and indoor steel via the spider crane. Plant and machinery around the industrial estate. Oversize loads moved with our HR transport.

It depends on the machine, the lift and the time on site. A short Franna lift costs a lot less than a full day with the 55 tonner and a rigging crew. Rather than publish rates that will not match your job, we quote free and fast: tell us the load, the address and the timeframe, and we will give you a firm price with no hidden costs. Site assessments are free too.

You do not need to. Three things decide the machine: the weight of the load, where the crane can stand, and the distance from there to where the load is going. Tell us those three things, or send a photo of the site, and we will pick the crane. Getting this right is most of what 30 years of experience is for, and it is why we assess sites free of charge.

Both, and plenty of the small ones. Spas into backyards, water tanks, containers, even a fridge that needs to go up and over. No job is too small to call about, and the right machine makes small jobs quick and affordable.

We are based here, so mobilisation is fast and same-day is often possible depending on bookings. We operate 24/7 including weekends, and we have handled genuine emergencies on a few hours’ notice. Call and we will tell you honestly what we can do and when.

If the crane needs to occupy the road or footpath, a permit and traffic management are usually required. We deal with this regularly and will tell you what applies to your site as part of the lift plan, so it is sorted before the day, not discovered on it.

Yes. Our crane hire includes a licensed operator, and dogman and rigger crew as the lift requires. Slinging and directing crane loads is licensed work in NSW, so having the right crew on the job is not optional, and with us it is simply part of the service.

We are fully insured, CraneSafe compliant and a CICA member, and we can provide insurance and licence documentation for your builder or site manager on request. From you, we mainly need accurate information: the load, the site, anything overhead like powerlines or trees, and access details. The free site assessment covers the rest.

Cranes have operating limits for wind and ground conditions, and we do not lift outside them. If conditions are not safe, we will talk to you early and reschedule rather than push through. We would rather move a booking than bog a machine or swing a load in wind, and we will always be straight with you about the call.
