Byron Bay Crane Hire

Crane Hire in Byron Bay, Built for Tight Access

Byron Bay is the tightest crane territory in the Northern Rivers. Narrow streets, small blocks, established trees, pedestrian traffic and neighbours close on every side. Getting a crane in, set up and out again without drama takes local experience and the right machine, and that is exactly what we bring.

Bauer Cranes is based in Ballina, thirty minutes away, with 30 years in cranes and construction and a fleet built for exactly this kind of work. Available 24/7.

Lifting in Byron

Nine times out of ten, the question in Byron is access. Our Maeda 285C spider crane is the answer more often than anything else in the fleet: 750mm wide while travelling, it fits through a standard doorway, down a side passage or between buildings, and sets up in a courtyard. Glass walls, AC units, indoor steel, hot tubs into hidden gardens, it does the lifts that look impossible from the street.

When the job is bigger, our Franna, 40T all terrain slew crane and 55T Liebherr cover new builds, commercial work and industrial lifts around the Arts and Industry Estate. And with powerlines threading through Byron’s older streets, our close approach and live line licenced crew can often keep a lift moving that would otherwise wait weeks for a scheduled outage.

We plan every Byron lift around the site: traffic management on busy streets, protecting finished surfaces with the spider crane’s non-marking tracks, and timing lifts to keep disruption down.

We service all of Byron Bay and surrounds, including Suffolk Park, Broken Head, Ewingsdale and Sunrise Beach.

Common Questions

Crane Hire in Byron Bay, Answered

Tight-access residential lifts via spider crane. Structural steel and trusses for renovations and new builds. Pools, spas and saunas into rear yards. Glass and joinery installation. Commercial plant and equipment in the Arts and Industry Estate. Container placement on constrained sites.

More often than you would think. Our Maeda spider crane is 750mm wide while travelling, fits through a standard doorway or side passage, and sets up in courtyards and even indoors. If the job looks impossible from the street, send us a photo before ruling it out.

Yes. Where a lift needs road space, we plan traffic management and any required permits as part of the job, and we time lifts to keep disruption down. It is part of the lift plan, not an extra problem left with you.

Yes, within regulated limits. Our operators and riggers hold close approach licences, which allows work within the allowed distances of live lines under the correct controls. In Byron’s older streets this regularly makes the difference between a lift proceeding and waiting weeks for a power outage to be scheduled.

It comes down to the machine, the access and the time on site. Tight-access spider crane work is priced differently to a truss lift with the Franna. We quote free with no hidden costs, and a photo of the site is usually enough for an accurate price.

No, that is what it is designed for. The Maeda runs non-marking tracks and can work over finished floors, tiles and decking with appropriate protection, which is why it is the machine for indoor steel, glass walls and renovation work in occupied homes. We plan surface protection as part of the lift.

It needs their permission, and it is worth sorting early. Swinging a load over an adjoining property without agreement is a quick way to stop a job. We will tell you at the site assessment whether the lift can be planned to stay within your boundary, and if it cannot, what to ask your neighbour for.

Earlier than the rest of the year. Byron’s peak periods bring traffic, parking pressure and council restrictions on some streets, and lifts that need road space take longer to arrange. If your job lands near school holidays or summer, call as soon as you have dates and we will plan around it.

Yes. Plant, equipment, structural steel and container work in and around the estate are regular jobs for us, with the Franna and the 40T covering most of it. For recurring commercial needs we can also set up standing arrangements so the crane is there when your schedule needs it.
